Is anyone else experiencing difficulty logging into Facebook these days?  Over the past 3 days — which coindentally happened to be 3 days I had more free time in a while, I’ve been having problems logging into Facebook.

Facebook can be painful at times…

9 10 2008

Trying to just say “Happy birthday” on someone’s wall today, I was told “You are not permitted to do …”  WTF?  Can’t write on a wall?  Does Facebook now give people the power to prevent others from writing on their wall?

I was doing something else on the website & was given the same message of not being able to do something or not having the permissions.  I wonder if this is part of their new “redesign”.  Interesting…o.k. it’s not.

Mark Zuckerberg over at Facebook messaged me today

11 08 2008

he said…

Hey (Brandon)-(actually, I did fill in the Brandon part…)

At Facebook, our goal is to give people the power to share and make the world more open and connected. More than 90 million people across the world have joined this movement and are using the site to communicate and share information with the people they care about most. Today, we’re happy to invite you to check out the next evolution of our product. We’ve been working on it for a while, so we’re really excited to show it to you. Read the rest of this entry »

A message that several of the groups I belong to on Facebook have been starting off saying:

Quietly, Facebook restored message capability to groups over 1000. This means, at least until we hit 5000 members, that we can send out a couple of messages! Thank you, Facebook.Read the rest of this entry »

Was trying to reach someone I haven’t talked to in a while via their main gmail.com email account…no reply.

A few weeks later when I REALLY had to get in touch with them, I messaged them via Facebook…immediate reply.

Online behavior or communication moving forward is becoming very funny in a somewhat sarcastic way.  We all have multiple messages (or rather any of us who are online in social networks, those of us who have email & of course all that subscribe to a cell phone service) bombarding us regularly.  We filter through those messages as fast as we can.  For some of us, responding after a few days, weeks or even months seems normal.  For others, responding in seconds is our normal way of replying. Anyone know what this facebook message means?

2 07 2008

“Quietly, Facebook restored message capability to groups over 1000. This means, at least until we hit 5000 members, that we can send out a couple of messages! Thank you, Facebook.”

So, Facebook doesn’t give groups other than popular ones the ability to message others or should we say “spam others?”

Thoughts?

Facebook forcing you to be grammatically correct?

27 06 2008

That’s an interesting “Nazi” like request.  Rather, who says you MUST be one way or another?  It’s YOUR option to join facebook and it’s your option to write as you will.  Why is now required that people become more grammatically correct when they write on Facebook?  So, they can drive more traffic and business?

More support for Facebook: Facebook pushes past MySpace internationally

Facebook overtakes MySpace globally

New figures from metrics firm comScore show that, in May, the battle of the social-networking sites may have gained a new front-runner: Facebook appears to have surpassed long-time rival MySpace in worldwide unique visitors for the first time. ComScore representatives said that Facebook’s lead began in April, when the site passed MySpace by a hair, and widened in May.

Facebook, according to comScore, pulled in 123.9 million unique visitors in the month of May, beating MySpace’s 114.6 million, and 50.6 billion page views, compared to MySpace’s 45.4 billion. Read the rest of this entry »

Attention all facebook members: Facebook no longer the #2 Social Website on the web

17 06 2008

Facebook is overpopulated or rather overpopulating the Internet.

According to Alexa.com, a division of Amazon.com, Facebook has overtaken MySpace.com as the #1 Social Networking website on the Internet. Just like they wrote on their blog, Facebook has overtaken popular websites like Wikipedia (#8) and MSN.com (#7). Supposedly, Facebook.com now is the #5 highest trafficked website on the Internet behind only a few behemoths ahead of it.  Alexa reported it on their blog here on May 7th.
