“The Kingdom” belongs in a group of movies I like to call the “stir up the emotions” and literally make you want to go out and fight for something type of flicks…just finished watching it. Other movies in this group include “Erin Brockovich,” “Good Will Hunting,” or the “Rainmaker” at least for me.
My respect for Jamie Fox grows stronger after viewing this along with Chris Cooper, Jennifer Garner and Jason Bateman. Ashraf Barhom also deserves a bit of respect for his portrayal of a Saudi police officer who you really hate seeing die in the end.
The conflicts in the mideast are truly some of the most heart wretching tales you can witness or hear about. You don’t know who to truly believe is the bad guy, but when people are literally bombed by suicide bombers, you have a hard time relating with the act. Not only does it seem crazy, but to be frank, if they have that much passion about committing the act, there must be something really down deep that the Islamic fundamentalists have in their religion or their beliefs.
I wish they could dedicate the same passion they throw into their bombing or shootings into positive action to someday create peace. However, I don’t think it will ever be that simple. Regardless, it kept me up 2 hours longer than I had hoped, but I just HAD to watch it. It was a great flick.
