From my brief scanning of the article titled “How the Ugly American Ate the Ugly Duckling“, I thought I’d bookmark this for future reference because it has some interesting stats and observations of how foreigners are treated in South Korea. While it’s a somewhat defensive opinion piece on Koreans targeting foreigners, I’d have to agree with many of the tenets of the piece and come back to this to reread what the author wrote. I just wish they had more sources (a bit better citing) and who the author was.

UPDATE: Looks like multiple sources are now saying the King of Pop is dead. CNN reports “Pop icon Michael Jackson has died in Los Angeles, according to multiple reports” and the New York Times says “Michael Jackson, 50, Is Dead.”
Thanks to my best friend’s sister Shirley, I just saw her status saying that TMZ.com reported Micheal Jackson died. I looked on ABCNews.com and it says he’s suffered from a cardiac arrest, but hasn’t confirmed he has passed. CNN reports the same and so doese the NYTimes.com. Micheal Jackson (actually spelled “Michael” Jackson, but mispelled here just fyi) passing would really rock the music industry despite his lack of success in recent years. I think he was trying to do a tour or something to make up for all his losses and lack of funds, but of course, he’s not the same as he was at his height.
CNN though has confirmed or reported that Farah Fawcett (rather Farrah Fawcett) of Charlie’s Angels fame has died. She was 12 years older than Jackson. She died of anal cancer. She was also known for literally having the blond hair do that every woman wanted at the time (which I believe was in the 1970’s). She was THE sex symbol at the time. She probably helped continue if not start a new wave of people LOVING blonds in the United States.
Two HUGE icons passing really makes this an interesting & sad day for the entertainment industry. Not sure what to think of these two passing…(if it’s true that Michael Jackson died…)
Bought the following motorcycle on the 12th of April. http://www.suzukicycles.org/GSX-series/GSX400-Impulse.shtml – RED 1994 Model. I’ve had a few problems, but all worth the education it’s taught me.
Right after buying it from this nice South African guy named Keren, I had starter problems. We thought it might be the extra flashing blue lights strung up the back of the bike — maybe sucking a bit of the battery before start up. So, I took those off.
This was after I bought a brand new battery from this guy named “Joon” that was instrumental in helping me get the bike. He thought it was in good shape and at the time, I had nobody who knew a lot about motorcycles except Dan (one of our Busanjin teachers) and fellow Kyopo. Dan introduced me to Joon who’s a buddy of Dan’s. Supposedly though the battery’s a cheap one according to a new bike shop I’ve been using. The new bike shop said the 40,000 won or so I paid to get this battery was on the cheap end and that I needed to buy a 60,000 won battery or so. I could believe him because he said I didn’t need to buy the better one yet since I should use this poor battery first.
All in all, in the month plus I’ve owned the bike (after purchasing it on 4/12), I’ve:
I guess we’ll have to see what happens for the rest of the year with this decision. I’ve started to look into “what the next bike” may be and some of the candidates are:
**By the way, the purpose of this post is mostly to help me keep track of what I’ve done on it for maintenance and the costs involved (in case any of you are interested in the costs of motorbike upkeep)
I think I’ve heard of the “South by Southwest” (aka SXSW) event before, but was just reminded of it after noticing it on a friend’s facebook page. It’s going on right now until the 18th…with Music, Film and Interactive emphasises…
Just a week ago, I was blogging about how the Slumdog Millionaire was literally driving crazy traffic to my blog. However, the traffic dropped heavily due to Google’s randomizing of their positioning of the Images used in their Google Images division/product. For a good week+, I was number 2 for phrases like “slumdog millionaire”, but as soon as google decided to rip it out of my search traffic clutches, I shot down a thousand views down to close to what I was averaging before all the crazy traffic.
Despite the drop, I did still manage to break a weekly record due to some of residual effects of the traffic. Continue reading
Actually, just curious what this will drive. No nothing, just a quick link. Let’s see…
Please note: this is a complete waste of 15 seconds of your life. Just thought I’d warn you…
I’ve heard his name a bunch of times, but actually had no idea he was still alive. To be frank, I thought he was as long gone as Hemingway or one of his contemporaries. However, I just noticed he passed away a couple days ago on the 27th of January. His most famous work was his Rabbit series (Rabbit, Run; Rabbit Redux; Rabbit Is Rich; Rabbit At Rest; and Rabbit Remembered).
Rest in peace Mr. Updike.

Some of my posts come from simply just opening up a browser here in Korea. Most browsers point to Daum.net or Naver.com here in South Korea when you open them in contrast to Msn.com or Yahoo.com back in the states. Anyhoo, today, there was this post about the most expensive motorcycles. I thought I’d share the basic information which is simply how expensive these dang things are. To be frank, I’m sure each and every one of these pocket rockets are fast! To an amateur like me, I’m sure all of them would blow my mind … if I was even lucky enough to keep it straight or in control riding these rockets on 2 wheels. Anyhoo, I was curious about the price…now you’ll know how much they cost.
[Drum roll please…]
Coming in at #4 in the list of the World’s most expensive motorcycles is the 2006 MV Agusta F4CC with a suggested price of …………………. $120,000 USD:
